Tyton Advisor, has been consulting to the Office of Economic Development since the beginning of 2009 with particular emphasis on public and governmental affairs. Additionally, because of his professional background in chemical research, he serves as a resource for both the staff and clients involving projects that have technical or scientific emphasis.

He has resided in Danville since 1956 when he began his career as a research chemist at Dan River Inc., and he retired in 2004 from Dan River as Vice-president, Research, Development, and Quality. Wright has been very active in civic affairs in the city throughout his adult life. He has served on City Council for twelve years, and during that time, he was both the Vice-mayor and Mayor of the city. He holds United States patents in chemical modification of fabrics to produce novel functional properties that provide enhanced performance for the consumer. He has served as president of the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History, the Danville Concert Association, the Danville Association for the Arts and Humanities, and the Kiwanis Club of Danville. Wright serves on the board of the Future of the Piedmont Foundation. He has been chairman of that board and the board of trustees for the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research.
